Our Programs

Unique to Beaufort County

We are the only organization within Beaufort County that takes on the tough challenges to provide quality of life for children and adults who have been severely intellectually handicapped with Autism Spectrum, Down’s Syndrome, Fragile X and other brain related injuries to provide them with a better quality of life.

Camp Treasure Chest

Camp Treasure Chest

Camp Treasure Chest is a unique summer day camp experience that uses speech, music and art therapy to help children and youth (ages 6 to 21) with developmental and related disabilities in Beaufort County to develop important life skills like conflict resolution, problem processing, and improved communications in order to obtain work in the local community.

Bright Beginnings

Bright Beginnings

Bright Beginnings is our early intervention program for children ages from birth through five, where our early interventionist specialists work with children and their parents within the home on a weekly basis using educational tools that are given to each child. The goal is to have the child prepared to enter kindergarten. Currently we have about 350 children enrolled in the program.

Heritage Outreach

Heritage Outreach

Through our Heritage Outreach program, we help our consumers understand, celebrate, and embrace the rich Gullah history of the Lowcountry through hands-on training in cooking and other field trips.

Family Crisis

Family Crisis Assistance

We support families throughout Beaufort County who are experiencing dire financial difficulties by helping with much needed family safety and personal care, such as bed bug infestations, car and roof repairs, transportation, and other day-to-day family emergencies where help from other sources is not available.

Cinderella-Fella Ball

Cinderella-Fella Ball

ABLE has been a co-sponsor of the Cinderella-Fella Ball for the past 12 years, an annual event that creates much excitement and participation within our community, as children that are mentally challenged really enjoy music and dancing. Dress your best in formal attire, both parents and children alike, and enjoy dinner and dancing at a local establishment.
